HAPPENINGS

Guillermo Sexo w/ Hooray For Earth, Mean Creek and Andre Obin + TOGETHER

Get there early, Guillermo Sexo goes on at 9PM and they'll be playing jamz off the new album!!

Weekly Dig Shout out.

Finally, a motto we can all get behind: Hooray for Earth. Home planet to the baddest humanoids in the solar system, Earth really is just the best. But Hooray for Earth is also the name of a New York-based rock band, playing downstairs at the Middle East along with Mean Creek, Guillermo Sexo, and Andre Obin. So when the aliens finally come to decimate all of mankind (which they will), make sure your last words are “hooray for earth.” A little grim? Yes. - Weekly Dig  5.14

New Guillermo Sexo EP - Bring Down Your Arms OUT NOW

Guillermo Sexo emerge from the drawing board to preview three tracks from their forthcoming album, "Dark Spring," due out in mid-2013. A constantly evolving project formed by Reuben Bettsak circa 2005, Guillermo Sexo hail from Cambridge, Massachusetts, and are a national touring band that have played with the likes of !!!, Polica, and Elephant Stone. This is the first release since since 2011's self-released "Secret Wild" LP, with a lineup that represents the band in its top form.

Give a listen to the new tracks below.  All the songs were recorded with Justin P in the same sessions as the upcoming LP.  There will be a release show at TT's with Young Adults, Creaturos, and Bent Shapes which you don't want to miss out on. >>>Fbook event

The Living Kills - NYC -  Really excited to bring back The Livings Kills to Boston after rocking Tiger Mountain last year.  They recently played Meatopia in NYC with Woods and The Slackers and got a nice plug from NBC New York for our show with Brothers at The Knitting Factory! They write: “The Living Kills traffic in a less swaggering, but no less excellent form of rock. If Brothers are like Steppenwolf and The Rolling Stones, The Living Kills are perhaps more like The Velvet Underground — a buzzing, clamoring wreck of noise with sweetly straightforward melodies soaring overhead’”  You can stream their excellent album "Angels Without Faces" here. > www.thelivingkills.bandcamp.com -- RIYL - Sonic Youth, Spaceman 3, and Man or Astroman?

Lord Jeff - Dripping hippie psych jamz from Northampton.  LJ will rule your world. T.Rex mixed with a more fucked up DBanhart...Commence face melting

Sand Reckoner - A relatively new transplant to the Boston scene via Philadelphia Sand Reckoner play bluesy desert psych rock just the way I like it.  Michael Marotta of the Boston Phoenix had this to say "The band's new record, a nine-song, homonymous album clocking in at 35 minutes, is a pinwheel of psychedelic sounds rooted in folk, blues, and '70s classic rock, with as many trippy, loud songs as gentle, dusty Americana numbers. But all the tracks, from the grunting guitar crunch of "Morning Star" to the folksy, spiraling hymnal "Veil," have the same sort of dirty, desert-trail vibe." - Read more
